Tenkara Synergy

My father taught me to fly fish when I was a boy, out camping in the Kananaskis in Alberta. I love the sport, that is ...except for having to maneuver through the brush with a fourteen foot fly rod. A few years back, when I lived in Lunenburg, I was drawn to the Japanese Tenkara fly fishing system for its down to earth, minimalist nature, and a compact, high-tech telescopic carbon rod that is less that 2 feet long when collapsed. Tenkara fishing features a measured piece of line, a length of tippet, a few flies, and ...no reel.

I have a couple of rods, however, I have yet to put together a carry-all pack to make sure I have everything in one place and at the ready. I scoured the internet and although I came up with some nice bags they were quite pricy...so I thought I would work on developing my own.

To do that I have chosen the Eagle Creek RANGER XE CROSS-BODY 7L which is available for sale at Latulippe where I am an outdoor products advisor. I will let you know how I set the bag up and what modifications I make as I progress into the summer.
